Frequently Asked Questions
1. I would like to speak with the school counselor, how do I set an appointment?
-It's easy! All you do is let your teacher know or stop by my office. If I am not there, you can fill out the "I Need to Talk" form located on my door, drop it in my box, and I will get to you as soon as I can.
2. Will you tell my parents what we talk about in our meeting?
-Confidentiality means that what we talk about stays in the room with us. It is keeping our conversation private. If you choose to talk about what we discuss with your family, that is your choice. I encourage you to talk about the things you are concerned about with your parents--they can be a big help to you since they know you best! There are only a few times when it is necessary to break confidentiality (meaning, we have to tell your parents and others who can help what we discussed). Those are:
-If you are harming yourself or if you want to harm yourself
-If someone else is harming you
-If you or someone else is in danger
